ITE Forum 2017-2019
A series of thematic seminars, including short reflective videocasts, linked to the discussion theme. Discussion led by university and industry experts.
The Forum facilitated knowledge sharing between universities, industry and policy-makers working in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) on innovative approaches and resources related to the pedagogical use of ICT. The forum was co-chaired by Dr Conor Galvin, University College Dublin and Peter Claxton, SMART Technologies.

12 December 2019 | ITE Forum December theme: Learning by Doing – a focus on virtual reality and video Discussion: The challenges and advantages of using leading-edge technology in teaching and learning settings Co-chairs: Dr. Conor Galvin (University College Dublin) and Peter Claxton (SMART Technologies) Expert discussant: Prof. Dr Silke Grafe, Gabriela Ripka, University of Würzburg D, who will be looking at the use of VR in teacher education and on the pedagogical implications of using VR to prepare student teachers for their future jobs. They will share their experiences from the project "Vilearn-Virtual Reality in Teacher Education". Shawn has been researching and developing technology to improve teacher professional learning for more than a decade, beginning with his doctoral dissertation research in 2006, which contributed to the inspiration for creating IRIS Connect. Shawn's theme for discussion in the forum is "Video for deliberate practice: Learning by doing, observing, and focusing on change."
