This year's conference, EMINENT 2019: Towards a whole school innovation culture, gathered, among other participants, ITELab key stakeholders and partners with the aim of raising constructive discussions around the topic of initial teacher education. The workshops featured the voices of two student teachers who presented the student teacher charter (read here the full report).

During the first School Innovation Forum, which took place in Brussels in June 2019, the student teacher voice was engaged in discussions with universities and industry aiming at co-designing and testing new short courses and also contributing to forums with all stakeholders. In the video below, student teachers express their views on the initial teacher education they have experienced and explain how ITElab project was useful for them and their practice.

Based on this input, during EMINENT 2019, representatives of Ministries of Education from more than 30 countries, teachers, researchers, university professors and industry partners had the opportunity to discuss and challenge ideas regarding the concerns and requirements of student teachers, focusing mainly on the skills related to the new role of teachers and the need for meaningful collaboration between all stakeholders.

Participants agreed that a supportive environment encourages student-led learning and innovation at whole school level. According to them, establishing communities of student teachers as well as building stable partnerships between ITE and practice schools is a priority. ITElab project seems to have paved the way towards that direction.
